Are You Taking “It” to the Next Level?

Successful business owners know that success is not a happenstance; they understand that it requires vision, commitment and a sincere degree of focus to obtain their slice of the pie.
Thus, to thrive in today’s increasingly crowded marketplace, businesses must remain consistently innovative and connected to the needs of their customers.
But how does this seemingly sound principle play out in our local Bahamian business arena?
Where Is Your Business Going?
Let’s face it, not everyone in business got into it as an outright intention. Family owned businesses for example are typically passed down through generations; while some people get into business simply because it’s the ‘in’ thing. And then there are the few who have been working tirelessly towards building a business that they are passionate about.
To effectively take any business to the next level requires that you unravel the foundation on which it was created. This would help you
to better clarify where your business is going. Rest assured that if the ground floor is shaky, it will be difficult for the business to stand and even more difficult (if not impossible) to take it to the next level.
Recognize that the term foundation in this context speaks not only to structural components but more so to personal principles and values. I would venture to suggest that 90% of success has to do with your personal principles; while a mere 10% is about the products or services you provide.
Studies show that personality and likeability factors, along with the willingness to serve are a winning formula for success.
Whether the business is a conglomerate or small operation, taking it to the next level must be a foremost thought in the mind of any savvy business owner.
New & Improved
Today almost everything is new and improved. Yet, many businesses have remained relatively the same; utilizing the same old equipment and or antiquated processes, many of which were implemented from the day they opened for business.
I know some may say ‘if ain’t broke, don’t fix it’; but ignoring the need to upgrade, prevents steady growth. Another glaring truth is that many businesses have not improved simply because its owners have ignored their own self-improvement; and as the saying goes, it’s had to sell what you do not possess.
Business owners must therefore, find ways to peel away personal comfort zones in order to make something better happen.
Final Thoughts
In order to appeal to a new generation, you must remain
relevant; without relevance you become obsolete.
For every successful step in business, you will be faced with the need to take it to the next level. Therefore, focusing on what’s next for your business ahead of time will enable you to consistently move it forward.
Remember – success is a journey not a destination; savoring the journey one step at a time brings much more fulfillment.
Find ways to take it the next level and make something better happen.
